We are seeking a highly motivated

Postdoc

for a joint research project between the Junior Research Group Herpesviruses at the German Primate Center and the Macromolecular Crystallography group at the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry. The contract will be for two years.

The proposed research aims at performing structure-function analysis of herpesviral glycoproteins in complex with cellular receptors and will make use of cutting edge biophysical techniques, such as cryo-EM and protein crystallization, complemented by cell biological techniques, such as generation of recombinant viruses, infection assays, and confocal microscopy with fluorescent viral particles. Requirements for this position include the ability to handle large-volume cell culture (mammalian and insect) as well as a keen interest in protein purification techniques, protein biochemistry and virology, and a problem-solving mind set. Initial funding is for two years. Applicants are expected to apply for independent research funding during the initial two years.
