DPZ aktuell published

In this new edition we report of field research in Tanzania and a passion for herpes viruses
The cover of DPZ aktuell shows a rhesus monkey completing a task in a training cage. The Photo won the DPZ photo contest 2015. Photographer is Michael Berger doctoral student at the Cognitive Neurosciences Laboratory at the DPZ.

The 1/2016 issue of the "DPZ aktuell" once again has a lot to offer: Alexander Hahn, head of the new Junior Research Group “Herpesviruses” at the DPZ explains why he is fascinated by tiny organisms with a comparatively small genome. PhD student Filipa Da Maia Domingues Paciencia spend time during her free range stay trotting along much larger organisms, namely lions, elephants and buffalos. In Tanzania she investigates sexually transmitted diseases in Anubis baboons. In addition, we have an update on the lab-in-a-suitcase: In the field test in Guinea, scientists were able to confirm that the new method of detection is just as reliable as the two conventional tests. The results are available within just 30 minutes. Last but not least, we have a review of 2015 in the first edition of this magazine.

The magazine "DPZ aktuell" appears four times a year. It contains articles in German and English.
