The Unit of Infection Models was established in January 2008 and is headed by Dr. Christiane Stahl-Hennig.

It comprises the former groups of Dr. Christiane Stahl-Hennig (Animal Models) and Dr. Ulrike Sauermann (Immunogenetics) and from 1 October 2008 the "Prion Research: Risk Assessment".

The main task of the department is the application of existing and establishment of new models for the study of viral infectious diseases of humans.

Here, both in vivo and in vitro Models are used and with their help, own scientific projects are carried out. These models are also provided as a service for domestic and foreign cooperation partners within the framework of externally funded projects.

Dr. med. vet. Christiane Stahl-Hennig is authorized to provide advanced training for veterinary specialists of Virology.
