student assistant (w/m/d) to assist in the development of apparatuses for primate cognitive field research

In the Cognitive Ethology Laboratory, German Primate Center, a position is available as

student assistant („studentischen Hilfskraft“) (w/m/d)

with an employment time of up to 40 hours per month. The position is available for three months, starting from the next possible date.

We are continuously developing new methods of field research, and we are looking for a student assistant to join our work group at the DPZ to aid in that process. You will be tasked to assist in developing and building apparatuses that can be used at our field station in Senegal.

Depending on the position holder’s qualifications, the main tasks will consist of one or more of the following:

+ Assisting in assembling experimental apparatuses
+ Developing a Firmware for wireless communication using Arduino compatible micro controllers and the NS nRF24L01+ chip
+ Creating CADs, modifying designs, and printing them using our FDM and SLA 3D printers

Job profile & qualifications: Requirements:
+ Student of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or comparable
+ Basic English skills
+ Reliability and personal commitment
+ Experience in microcontroller programming in C/C++ using PlatformIO and a basic understanding of electronics and serial communication are advantages
+ Experiences in CAD, 3D-Printing, PCB design (KiCad), and/or git are advantages.

We offer flexible working hours and the option to partially work remotely.
