Who we are

The German Primate Centre - Leibniz Institute for Primate Research (DPZ) is a publicly funded, non-university research institute. It is a limited liability company and recognised as a non-profit organisation. The basic funding is provided by the state of Lower Saxony, together with the federal government and the other states.

What we do

The DPZ conducts scientific and medical research on and with primates. It also breeds non-human primates and supports other research institutes by providing non-human primates and primate-related services.

Management Board

The management conducts the business of the DPZ in accordance with the applicable legal provisions, the articles of association and the resolutions of the shareholders' meeting and the supervisory board. The shareholders are the state of Lower Saxony and the federal government.

 

 

Supervisory Board

The Supervisory Board of the DPZ monitors the legality, expediency and economic efficiency of the management. It decides on general research objectives and important research policy and financial matters.

 

Scientific Advisory Board

The Scientific Advisory Board is international (currently nine members). It advises the DPZ on scientific and technical issues and evaluates the scientific departments at regular intervals.
