Guidelines for Respectful Conduct at the DPZ

The following guidelines for conduct at the DPZ apply to all those who are integrated into the working life of the institute. We, as the DPZ, stand for respectful and cooperative interaction in both workplace and society. We do not tolerate any form of abuse of power, discrimination, harassment, bullying or sexual harassment and see it as our duty to protect all employees from such behavior in the workplace.

  1. We strive to maintain a cooperative working atmosphere characterized by mutual respect in all areas. Appreciation is shown to everyone, regardless of their status. We do not tolerate any form of discrimination, whether based on ethnic origin, gender, disability, religion or belief, age, sexual orientation, or identity. Individuals who have caregiving responsibilities alongside their professional duties (e.g., parenting, caring for relatives) must not be disadvantaged because of these responsibilities.

  2. We value the skills and expertise of our colleagues regardless of hierarchy, and we acknowledge and actively promote them.

  3. The work in the committees and teams of the DPZ is based on respect and appreciative communication. Every member is required to point out grievances if these basic principles are not adhered to. We promote and maintain a cooperative and respectful climate in a spirit of shared responsibility.

  4. Daily interaction may not always run smoothly. Everyone is encouraged to resolve any conflicts that arise promptly, objectively and with a solution-oriented approach through direct communication. If this is not possible, supervisory staff can be involved. If needed, the representative groups (works council, equal opportunities officer, representatives for disabled employees, ombudspersons) can be asked for support.

  5. Our interactions are strengthened by duly recognizing a job well done and presenting criticism in an appropriate, constructive manner.

  6. Individuals in supervisory roles have a role model function with regard to the implementation of the guideline and the possibilities of counteracting any form of exploitation or abuse of power.

  7. Creating a motivating and supportive work environment is a shared responsibility to which everyone contributes. This also includes taking on team tasks beyond core duties and supporting one another. Individuals in supervisory roles have a particular responsibility toward their employees.

  8. Together, we promote professional development based on individual interests and strengths. Personnel decisions and task allocation are made based on objective and transparent criteria.

  9. We collectively strive to ensure healthy working conditions, avoid health-endangering strains, and support each other in balancing work with individual life circumstances. Additional support is provided by safety officers, the company doctor, and employee representatives.

  10. These guidelines are specified and supplemented by the DPZ's works agreements and policies.
