Evaluations by the Leibniz Association
Leibniz institutions are evaluated by the Leibniz Senate at least every seven years. This involves an independent assessment of how the institution has developed over the past few years and to what extent the plans for the future are convincing. The scientific evaluation is carried out on the basis of clearly defined criteria by independent expert groups, which include members of the Senate Evaluation Committee (SAE) and experienced experts from Germany and abroad. The DPZ was last evaluated in 2020, the report on which is available on the Leibniz Association website under Senate Opinions.

Evaluations by the Scientific Advisory Board of the DPZ
Leibniz institutions are closely and critically monitored in their work by their Scientific Advisory Board. As an advisory body, it regularly evaluates the scientific performance of the research departments. Questions of scientific quality play just as much a role as questions of further structural development and orientation. An audit should be scheduled at least once between two Senate evaluations. The results of an audit are recorded in a report to the institution's supervisory body.
