Primate Cognition

We are currently researching topics such as social cognition, cognition and aging, and decision-making.

In the Niokolo-Koba National Park in Senegal, we collaborate with local park rangers and researchers to study wild Guinea baboons (Papio papio). In addition to continuous behavioral observations, we analyze long-term data and conduct field experiments.

At the Nuremberg Zoo in Germany, we have worked with the Guinea baboons living there for several years. The focus here is on direct experiments with the animals to explore their cognitive abilities.

In the monkey park "La Forêt des Singes" in Rocamadour, France, we study a population of 130 free-living Barbary macaques (Macaca sylvanus). We combine behavioral observations with field experiments to gain deeper insights into their behavior and cognition.
