Research

The main focus of the Platform Infection Models is the study of viral infections. The scientific interest lies particularly in testing new substances and vaccines for the treatment and prevention of viral infections. To test the effectiveness of antiviral substances and vaccines, various cell, primary culture, and animal models have already been established and are continuously developed and improved.

Since the host's immune response plays a crucial role in combating an infectious agent and the progression of an infection, the investigation of the immune response following an infection or vaccination is of particular relevance. Various methods are available for characterizing the immune response, allowing us to examine both the cellular and humoral immune responses in detail.
