Julia Fischer is one the new Vice Presidents of the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences (BBAW)

Using online and postal voting, the assembly of BBAW members elected Prof. Dr. Julia Fischer, head of the Department of Cognitive Ethology at the German Primate Center (DPZ), and Prof. Dr. Dr. h. c. Reinhard Hüttl, head of the GeoForschungsZentrum Potsdam, as the new vice presidents. As of October 1, they will replace the current vice presidents, the ethnologist Prof. Dr. Carola Lenz and the technical scientist Prof. Dr. Klaus Petermann.

Julia Fischer has been a full member of the BBAW's life science-medical class since 2007 and has been a professor at the Georg-August-University of Göttingen and head of the Department of Cognitive Ethology at the DPZ since 2004. Since 2018 she is also deputy scientific director of the DPZ
