Platform Degenerative Diseases

[Translate to English:] Cycle

The scientists of the Degenerative Diseases Research Platform (formerly the Department of Stem Cell Biology) generate and study pluripotent stem cells: induced pluripotent stem cells (iPS cells) and embryonic stem cells (ESC). These all-rounder stem cells may in future play a role in new treatment approaches for some serious human diseases. The group also investigates the development of germ cells and primate-specific aspects of early embryonic development.

Thus, both topics related to applications in human medicine as well as fundamental cell and developmental biology issues are addressed.
