Modern Prosthesis and Cyborgs - Robot Control using a Neural Signal

- The conversation will be held in English -

My research pertains to implanting a monkey in the primary motor area - the part of the brain where motor processing starts. This implant is a tiny electrode which reads out the neural activity. We use this neural signal to get the monkey to control a robot hand as a prosthesis in real time. This research helps further the development of prosthesis for people with physical movement challenges.

Hunamaid Hameed is an assistant researcher in the research field for brain computer interfaces and prosthesis.

Time slot for the conversation:

10:00 - 10:25 | 10:30 - 10:55 | 11:00 - 11:25 Uhr

The dates can be booked on the website of the Leibniz Association: www.leibniz-gemeinschaft.de/bookascientist
