Pint of Science Festival Göttingen

Look forward to amazing evenings about primate research!

The days are getting warmer – time for a refreshing drink! How about a Pint of Science? 🍻🧠

From May 19 to 21, Göttingen’s pubs won’t just be serving beer, wine & more – they’ll also be pouring fresh insights into the world of science. We’re excited to be part of it again with a strong lineup:

🐢 19.5., Dots:
Baptiste Sadoughi (now at the lab of Noah Snyder-Mackler) explains why not only humans age differently – but also how aging varies across animal species.

🧠 May 19, Krawall:
Viola Priesemann (Max-Planck-Institut für Dynamik und Selbstorganisation) takes us into the world of thinking: how does it work – and how can we actually study it?

👀 May 20, Dots:
Aliya Nova Rutsch, (from the Behavioral Ecology Group of Julia Ostner and Oliver Schülke), shows how Barbary macaques' interests and attention shift as they age.

🐒🤖 May 20, Duke Pub:
Richard Vogg (Georg-August-Universität Göttingen), our king of science slam, is back on stage – with plenty of colorful monkey videos and an intro to how AI can help analyze animal behavior.
(Warning: the videos only get more colorful! 😄)

🤝 Joining him on stage: our colleague Renate Schweizer (Deutsches Primatenzentrum GmbH), who explores what happens in our brains when we’re touched – and why some touches feel especially good.

🐵 May 21, Liesels:
Still thirsty for more? James Brooks, new in Liran Samuni’s group at the Deutsches Primatenzentrum GmbH, offers insights into the diverse group behaviors of chimpanzees, bonobos, gorillas, and orangutans – and what they might tell us about ourselves.

And last but not least: a big shoutout to Sebastian Löser and Sofia Pereira, PhD students at the SFB Cognition of Interaction, for their engagement in the local organisation team!
