The new “DPZ-Magazin” is here!

New name, new look, and lots of exciting research highlights

It's done—we've given our magazine a makeover and are proud to present issue 2/2025 with a new design and updated concept. Effective immediately, “DPZ aktuell” is now “DPZ-Magazin”, which will be published twice a year in German and English, highlighting our most important research achievements. It also features information about everyday life at the DPZ and everything else that goes into running a research organization and makes these research highlights possible in the first place.

These are externally funded projects that provide the necessary financing for knowledge transfer to the public (see the photos from the “Nacht des Wissens” on page 52), the media (see Nancy Rüger's report on Science Meets Journalism on page 48), to decision-makers (see Julia Fischer's contribution to the Leopoldina discussion paper on page 50), and to the next generation of researchers (Julia Ostner and Oliver Schülke and their workshop on Molecular Field Methods in Thailand starting on page 36).

We introduce you to some interesting colleagues – in this issue, for example, Susann Boretius, who has been head of the Functional Imaging Laboratory at the DPZ for ten years, Julia Ostner and Oliver Schülke, who have been researching stump-tailed macaques in Thailand for 20 years, and the two trainees Lara Siebert and Paul Hottenrot, who have just graduated – and, of course, we also share our successes with you, such as the excellent rating given to the Infection Biology Unit in the latest assessment.

The magazine will continue to be available in print at our DPZ office and will be sent free of charge by mail to all existing and new subscribers. You can also find the magazine online on our website at www.dpz.eu/magazin.

We hope you enjoy reading it!
