The latest issue of DPZ Magazine once again demonstrates the diversity of research at the German Primate Center—and how closely basic research is linked to socially relevant questions.
This issue focuses on organoids—tiny, three-dimensional organ structures derived from stem cells that provide new insights into the early development of the brain. With their help, researchers can understand how genes shape the architecture of the human brain and which processes become unbalanced when developmental disorders arise. Organoids thus open up entirely new possibilities for understanding complex biological processes.
Another topic in this issue is the growing importance of data science and research infrastructures. With the new PRIDAS platform, a center of excellence for data processing is being established at the DPZ, combining modern methods of analysis and modeling with biological research.
