Working with non-human primates, especially with awake and active animals, places high demands on their care and well-being. We need more insights into the key factors that ensure these aspects in non-human primate research. This includes developing new experimental methods and comparing them with previous approaches. A more refined, systematic identification of potential biomarkers that describe the well-being of the animals is also necessary. Efforts in these directions should not focus solely on individual research groups. To this end, we collaborate closely with other experts.
