What we do

Promoting young talent, supporting research on and with primates, staying in contact with the DPZ

Since 1985, the non-profit Support Association of the German Primate Center (Förderkreis des Deutschen Primatenzentrums e.V.) has been a contact point for all those interested in the research of the German Primate Center (DPZ) as well as those who would like to support its work.

The central focus is on the funding of research projects that directly benefit humans, animals, or their environment. The supported projects contribute to a fundamental understanding of primate biology. The emphasis is on young researchers at the start of their scientific careers. In addition, activities promoting interdepartmental cooperation and a positive working environment are encouraged.

Members are kept informed about activities at the DPZ.

Young researchers who are members of the support association (membership fee €10 per year) can apply for funding to support their research, for example, to attend conferences or invite colleagues from their field to the DPZ.

Promoting research

In addition to the PhD Award and the DPZ photo award, as well as projects and events at the German Primate Center, the support association also sponsors training courses and symposia on primate-specific topics in the animals' countries of origin. In addition to training local students, the association also focuses on projects to inform the local population about nature conservation and species protection.

We invite interested members of the public to support our activities by joining the Support Association or making individual donations, including earmarked donations. As the Support Association is a registered charity, we can provide you with a receipt for your donation.
