Welcome Liubov (Luba) Vasileva

We welcome Luba as a postdoc in the Cognitive Neuroscience Lab.

Luba studied neurobiology at the Biology Faculty of the Moscow State University in Russia and did her master’s thesis on chronic stable recordings in the monkey primary motor cortex in the lab of Dr. Igor V. Bondar at the Institute of Higher Nervous Activity & Neurophysiology in Moscow (in collaboration with Dr. Badakva A.M. lab at the Institute of Biomedical Problems, Moscow, Russia). To complete her PhD, she continued to work at the Lab of Sensory Systems Physiology under the supervision of Dr. Igor V. Bondar to further perform stable neuronal recordings in monkeys and rabbits and study mechanisms of visual perception. During her PhD, Luba visited the Section on Cognitive Neuroscience and Imaging at NIMH, NIH, Bethesda, USA to learn how to work with monkeys and record chronically in the inferior temporal cortex of macaques. Following a postdoc position at the lab of Human Higher Nervous Activity (P.I. - Olga V. Martynova) where she did human eye-tracking experiments in 2020-2021, she now joins Igor Kagan's Decision and Awareness Junior Research Group as a postdoc where she will investigate neuronal mechanisms of conscious perception in rhesus macaques.
