Kurzprofil
Zahra earned her bachelor's degree in biology and her master's degree in physiology from the University of Isfahan, Iran. Her master’s thesis, titled "The Effect of Linalool on Evoked Field Potential Responses of the Hippocampal CA1 Area in a Rat Model of Alzheimer’s Disease," highlights her early engagement in neuroscience research.
Fascinated by the underlying algorithms the brain employs to generate behavior, make decisions, and use of mathematical models to explain naturalistic behavior, Zahra pursued a PhD in cognitive neuroscience. Her doctoral research, conducted at SISSA in Trieste, Italy, under supervision of Prof. Mathew E Diamond, focused on decision-making in both rats and humans.
In June 2023, Zahra began her first postdoctoral position at DPZ, analyzing data from transparent decision games in macaques and humans. She is particularly interested in understanding not only how naturalistic decisions are made but also when they occur.
