The detection of antibodies against viruses is of central importance to the diagnostic of viral infections. Dr. Artur Kaul, head of virus diagnostics, established a chip-based antibody detection system (Intuitive Biosciences) in the laboratory. This system allows parallel detection of antibodies against 9 viruses, including herpes B virus, simian immunodeficiency virus and measles virus. Therefore, a large number of samples can be analyzed in short time which allows efficient screening of large animal colonies.
