Research Group Social Evolution in Primates

The Research Group Social Evolution in Primates forms an organizational unit with the Behavioral Ecology Department of the Johann-Friedrich-Blumenbach Institute for Zoology and Anthropology at the University of Göttingen.

We study ultimate causes and underlying endocrinological, genetic and cognitive mechanisms of the variation in primate social relationships. Since 2015 the DPZ funds our field site on Assamese macaques at the Phu Khieo Wildlife Sanctuary, Thailand.
