Frau Prof. Dr. Rabea Hinkel wechselte nach einem Veterinärmedizinischen-Studium in Gießen an die Innere Medizin der Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, wo sie 2009 ihre Doktorarbeit abschloss. Als PostDoc und Fachtierärztin für Versuchstierkunde arbeitete Rabea Hinkel zunächst an der LMU München, bevor sie 2015 in die Innere Medizin des Klinikums rechts der Isar der TU München und an das Institut für Prophylaxe und Epidemiologie der Herzkreislauferkrankungen der LMU wechselte. In 2017 hat sie einen der begehrten Starting Grants des Europäischen Forschungsrats (ERC) erhalten, um die Auswirkungen von Diabetes auf kleine Blutgefäße am Herzmuskel zu erforschen. Ihrem Forschungsschwerpunkt, der Herzinsuffizienz in verschiedenen Tiermodellen mit starkem Bezug zur klinischen Anwendung, wird sie auch in Göttingen treu bleiben.
