The Deutsches Primatenzentrum GmbH – Leibniz-Institut für Primatenforschung in Göttingen is a primate research and competence center that does basic research. It concentrates on three main areas named Organismic Primate Biology, Infections Research and Neurosciences. The DPZ maintains four field stations to do research on and with primates. Furthermore it is one of 95 research and infrastructure establishments of the Leibniz Association
The Functional Imaging Laboratory at the German Primate Center is in search of a
Veterinarian or scientist/physician
with good practical working experience in animal research to support our interdisciplinary team.
The position is initially limited to two years. An extension is planned.
The Functional Imaging Laboratory conducts research in the field of magnetic resonance imaging and magnetic resonance spectroscopy and applies these techniques to small rodents, non-human primates, and humans. Our focus is on neurosciences and cardiovascular imaging, but we are also interested in structural and functional imaging of other organ systems. We are working on the improvement of modern methods of non-invasive imaging with emphasis on investigation of brain diseases including the influence of drugs on the brain. Your responsibilities will include:
- Further development of MRI of awake and anesthetized non-human primates -
- Research in the field of MR imaging with a focus on neurosciences/anesthesiology, depending on your career stage there is the option of a doctorate or to further qualify in science as a postdoctoral fellow
- Independent writing of applications for animal experiments as well as assisting in the implementation and evaluation of animal experiments with rodents and non-human primates
- Head/deputy of animal experimental projects
Your qualifications:
- a degree in veterinary medicine, life sciences or medicine
- a PhD, preferably on projects using animal experiments and/or biomedical imaging, is an advantage but not a requirement
- Experience in working with non-human primates is an advantage.
