I am studying how previously learnt knowledge and predictions lead to efficient representations in the brain and how such predictions facilitate face perception.
In my work with macaque monkeys, I focus on sensory predictions about visual features of faces based on information learnt on timescales of a few hours using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) and in-vivo electrophysiology. I complement this by studying how abstract and conceptual predictions learnt through contextual cues and regularities acquired through a very few repetitions affect perception in humans using invasive electrophysiology (iEEG).

I enjoy painting and sketching (Current art projects: the many faces of immersion; colorful process of ideation.) I mostly work with acrylic on canvas, but sometimes also use water paints, ink and do calligraphy. In the past, I have also worked on large-scale artworks on buildings and wooden planks along with fellow artists.
I regularly participate in swing dancing events and also enjoy playing badminton and practicing improv theatre.
