On Wednesday June 11, Rolf-Georg Köhler the SPD's candidate for the mayoral elections in Göttingen visited the German Primate Center. Shortly before the runoff election, he had a conversation about research at the DPZ and the current and planned construction projects with Stefan Treue (scientific director) and Michael Lankeit (administrative director).

With around 400 employees and annual salaries of approximately 10 million euros, Köhler praised the DPZ as an attractive employer and a "positive marketing factor" in Göttingen. As the CEO of urban housing (Städtischen Wohnungsbau GmbH), he has shown particular interest in the construction projects and the future development of the DPZ. “For our three construction projects, we will spend 30 million euros in the next few years”, Lankeit said. This money will benefit local and regional economies.

The visit was concluded with a tour of the primate husbandry and since the storm had just passed, the animals were cooperative in their outdoor enclosures.
