We conduct basic research in the fields of infection research, neuroscience and primate biology. For some of our research questions we rely on experimentes with non-human primates which we keep and breed at the DPZ.

If you are interested in our research, we kindly invite you to a guided tour. This tour consists of a talk about the DPZ and a tour to the outdoor facilities of our primate husbandry. We offer guided tours from Monday to Friday. Please see the event calendar on our website for the next public tours (from May to October). Please note that registration for the tour is necessary.

For the protection of our animals we ask for your understanding that FFP2 masks are obligatory during the tour.

For school classes (starting from grade 10), student courses or other groups related to science or education, we organize separate tours (monday to friday). Please note that there is a minimum of 10 people per group booking and that all participants must be 15 years or older. Our group tours are limited to a maximum of 30 people. We can also combine the tour with special focus talks about our research areas such as infection biology, stem cell research, genetics, neuroscience or behavioral science or with a discussion about animal research. If you would like to book a tour, please send an email to Susanne Schumacher stating desired dates, what kind of group you are, how many people will be in the group as well as a telephone number for further inquiries. Please let us know if you have any special knowledge or interests.

General notes to our guided tours:

  • Please bring appropriate clothing, as the tour will be outdoors
