Second MRI-Scanner arrived

The second MRI-Scanner arrived safely on Thursday, November 20th at its new location in the imaging center of the DPZ. The device weighs ten tons and was specifically made to screen smaller animals such as new world monkeys and rodents.

This MRI-Scanner is only two tons lighter than the one delivered 10 days ago for the screening of bigger monkeys and humans.  A crane and a few strong men who had to do some pushing and pulling were also necessary here.

It took about three hours to get the device into the laboratory. Starting in the spring of 2015, the scanner with a 9.4 Tesla magnetic field strength as well as the larger scanner with a magnetic field of three Tesla, will expand the spectrum of methods at the DPZ.
